It is with great professional pride and enormous anticipation that I now take up my new role as Principal of Capital School Bahrain. As a proud father of two I have always been aware of important choices in life for my children, none more so than the choice of school and the educational pathway they would follow. Therefore as the new Principle I will bring more than 28 years of Head Teacher and Executive Head Teacher experience to a new stimulating,. vibrant education setting which will allow you as prospective new parents, to make those vital life changing choices for your child. My leadership experience to date covers a wide range of schools from all age Primary to Junior and Community schools. Two of the six schools I have led included “Special Needs, Referral Units”, catering for pupils with learning and language difficulties. I have worked at a variety of levels within school groups and working parties, covering such initiatives as “inner city challenge” and several schemes which supported/mentored established as well as newly appointed Head Teachers and Senior Leaders in developing their schools. More recently I was seconded to work across two schools within the South of England as an Executive Head Teacher for a period of two years. This being the third such successful executive role in the last ten years which has called upon my broad experience and sensitive approach to school leadership, in what can be only described as very demanding circumstances. I am also fully qualified Psychotherapist and have worked for a period in the commercial sector as an Educational Consultant, applying my skills and knowledge to the world of “solutions focused planning and school assessment”. Finally, I firmly believe in a balanced education, one which includes the academic as well as the arts, music and all manner of sporting opportunities. I’m confident that over the coming years our unique school will develop a reputation for offering a broad and balanced curriculum which attains the highest standards of achievement across all curriculum/extra curriculum areas of development.

My desire to move into the education sector stemmed from my experience as a Parent Helper within a Forest School in the UK. In my role of librarian at Capital School I love showing children the magic of reading and the joy of books. Every book opens a child’s mind and can bring a smile. I think reading should always be for pleasure and story times should be special memorable times. I relocated from the UK to Bahrain with my husband and 5 year old twins, we are all so happy here and are already calling it home. In my spare time I enjoy exploring this beautiful Island, learning Arabic, practicing yoga and of course the simple joys family life brings.

With 5 years working experience at the British School of Bahrain, my passion and love for working with children has grown tremendously over the years, specifically with Foundation Stage 1. The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing how learning through play enhances their ability to achieve a steady foundation for their future. My biggest satisfaction is seeing the smiles on their faces when they enter and leave my classroom.
